JESUS THE ROCK CHURCH

Introduction by Reverend Jonas Shake.

The church was brought to me in a vision back in 1995. In the vision, I was told that there is a big plot for a church that I should build there and another space will be for the developments of the church. In a vision someone took me to the plot that I may familiarize myself with it and if possible I buy it.

It took a while before a got a breakthrough to follow up the vision, but finally in 2004 there was a big urge for me to travel from the Church in Taita Hills at Langhonyi, Chawia to Mombasa and meet one of our church members who lived in Mombasa. His name was  Bro. Anderson John Mwazo. I asked him to take me round Port Rietz area which was the area I had been instructed to visit in the vision.  I had never been there before. That was in February 2004. I was not pleased by the area as it was surrounded by commercial companies so I had to go back to my home church in Chawia. Due to the zeal in me and the push from Heaven, I had to come back to Mombasa in March, 2004. At that time,  I was taken to another area within the ward.

On the 16th -19th September 2004, we held our first crusade and the church was dedicated and set its roots. We managed to get a hall named as Mwidani hall managed by Muslims who gave it to us to conduct our church services after seeing what God  was doing in that crusade.

I named the church JESUS THE ROCK MINISTRY. This name was an outcome of being taken away spiritually from my relaxing mood while I was young in salvation trying to rest my body which was ill at that time. In that vision, I found myself in a church entrance and the congregation was dispersing meaning the service had come to an end. There and then I had a voice telling me in my vernacular language “HATA KWAKII JESU NI MWAMBA” translated as WHATEVER IT MAY, JESUS IS THE ROCK. Immediately I woke up and said to myself that if it happens that God gives me a church then I will call it JESUS THE ROCK MINISTRY. Then I was very young in salvation had no knowledge of being a servant of God in any capacity but just a born again young man. The church in Mombasa is like a child,  born under God’s protection and supervision of the highest order from vision and voice hearing to reality.  The mother church was Laghonyi Pentecostal Church which supported this vision. Members  of the mother church moved to Mombasa in numbers to make sure that the church has started and some of the youths remain behind to make sure I got a place to reside . I mention Brothers Peter Mwamburi, Michael Mwakio and Scaver Mwikamba. We were all hosted by Bishop Paul Mwaura.

After three years, the hall owners got us a place in a government primary school so that we may continue to conduct our services from there. After a year, the space in the school  could not hold the numbers of the congregation any more. We then got a private owned hall which was very convenient to all as it was just next to the road where church attendees could attend by public transport.

While at this hall, God helped as get the desired plot that I believe God had showed it to me in 1995. The plot cost us KSH 500,000.00 which the church managed to raise KSH 400,000.00  from a previous plot that the church bought. We could not build a church on the previous plot because  the muslim landlord refused us consent to construct a church. The new plot owner has given us permission to build a temporary church despite having not paid him in full.

I bless the Lord for he has fulfilled His prophetic word and I believe He will bring to pass all that he talked to me about and those that He sent his children to me too.

In this ministry we have seen people being set free from the different kinds of bondages example miscarriages, barrenness, and other sicknesses. We have a lady who had more than six miscarriages but after praying for her and accepting Jesus she has now two sons. Another lady who is a member of our praise team could carry a pregnancy for 10 years but no child. Now, in the eleventh year, we are celebrating it in our church while we holding our miracle baby, Samuel.

God has called me to evangelism, set people free heal the broken hearts, preach deliverance and declaring the year of the Lord [LUKE 4:18-19, LUKE 9:1-2].

The church has grown and increasing each and every day. So far we have had ten of our youths graduating to marriage life in the biblical way. This year we have planned for revivals and crusades and seminars as we have now a spacious place we call our own.

We are trusting God for a permanent church building so that we may be settled and have time to go deeper into the ministry.  Am not satisfied of where we have reached  as I have a greater calling to reach the nation and the world with the good news for the kingdom of GOD.

introduction

Hi all,

this blog will primarily be a place to report on the ongoing ministry efforts of five churches/ministries that I know are working in Kenya/Uganda. I will post their stories, as received, with some photos attached if space allows. the geographical spacing is about 1,000 km between the eastern most church and the western most. The first is a church in Mombasa, the second is a church in the Taita Hills, the third is a ministry in Nairobi and the fourth is a church in Kacheliba, Pokot County (in what we used to call the NFD) and the fifth is a church in Momordor, Karita, Uganda. I have visited all five churches. the oldest church is the one in Taita Hills and the youngest ministry is the one in nairobi.

My goal in this blog is to provide a forum for communication and sharing of ministry reports about what God is doing in different parts of Kenya and Uganda.  If a reader wishes to contact the leadership in any of these churches/ministries, please send me an email and I will facilitate. Phone numbers are available together with emails and whatsapp contacts to enable full transparency. If a reader feels led to support financially, I can show you how to do so directly, since Kenya supports a world leading financial banking system that places money on a person’s phone within seconds of dispatch. Western Union and others of that ilk are now outdated and all these churches/ministries receive funds through phone money transfers.  I will not receive any money on their behalf and would encourage readers to send direct to the churches as this will serve as encouragement to the church leadership.

social issues that directly touch on the lives of the church membership will be mentioned by myself but largely, the postings will originate from the church leadership themselves. I will edit the postings but nothing more.
